Youth ages 8 to 18 who are interested in the pork industry are invited to the second annual Illinois Pork Youth Day on Feb. 15 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds Livestock Center in Springfield.

The Illinois Pork Producers Association (IPPA) Youth and Education Committee has planned a full day’s worth of great learning opportunities, an IPPA release said. This year’s theme is “Career Exploration” and will feature career booths to help participants learn about the variety of opportunities in the swine industry.

Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m., followed by the program starting at 10 a.m. There is no cost to attend, but pre-registration is required. A full schedule and registration link can be found at Parents are encouraged to attend with their children. A pork burger lunch will be provided.
Earlybird Nutrition will conduct a one-hour workshop at the beginning of the day. Sponsors for the event include: (Gold) Earlybird Nutrition; (Bronze) The Maschhoffs, Carthage Veterinary Service, Ltd, Lindner Show Feeds, Darling Ingredients, Illinois State University, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Knauth + Olson Boars.
