Markets Spotlight Weather

August 14, 2010 11:14 AM

Market watchers have been looking at the fact that we've not had an ideal summer for weather, says Jerry Gulke, president of Gulke Group. Where will the yield numbers fall if hot weather continues?

Following this week’s surprising blockbuster report, Gulke says the world is looking for a big U.S. crop. The world is saying we’re going to need 165 bushels to the acre at least in corn to meet demand, he says.

A big crop might be achieved, but the weather will need to cooperate. “We’re looking at some cool weather coming in a week, and we really need that to finish this crop out.”
