March 29, 2010 09:15 AM

Bongard's Creameries, headquartered in Bongards, Minn., announced today it purchased a cheese facility in Humboldt, Tenn. to produce processed cheese shreds, loafs and slices.

Having reached capacity in its current facilities, Bongards' will ship natural cheese produced in its Perham, Minn. facility to the newly purchased facility. The facility, formerly owned by ACH Food Companies, produced both loaf and shredded imitation cheese products. With Bongards' purchase, the plant will be modified to produce processed cheese products.

Bongards' is looking to hire 89 new employees. "With this new facility, we are better equipped to meet the increasing company demand for processed cheese products,” says Keith Grove, Bongards' president and CEO.

Shredding operations should begin by the middle of summer. By the third quarter of 2010, Bongards' expects to have processed cheese loaf production capabilities. And slicing operations of processed cheese is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2011. For more information on Bongards' Creameries, click here.
