Trade talks between the U.S. and China are already underway. That's according to President Trump.  He talked about it earlier this week during a press briefing at the White House.

The president said negotiators are talking by phone, and meeting in person. Meanwhile, China says it plans to reduce some tariffs and ease restrictions on foreign investment.

The president says he's hopeful a deal can be reached soon, but that he isn't in a hurry. President Trump said, "I expect him to move {Chinese President Xi Jinping}, if he doesn't move that's okay, too.  I'm very happy either way, but I think we have a good chance of making a deal.  I think they want to make a deal because they're losing many companies that are leaving because of the tariffs.  They don't want to pay the tariffs".

The president says he thinks the trade deal should be tilted in the United State's favor following years of a trade imbalance.
