NCBA Recognizes 2013 Top Hand Club Winners

February 10, 2014 06:18 AM

The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s 2013 Top Hand Club celebrated today the recruitment of nearly 1,000 new NCBA members, all recruited over the past year.

The Top Hand Club was initiated in 1982 as NCBA’s member-recruit-a-member program that recognizes volunteer leaders for their commitment in growing a strong national association. To become a Top Hand Club member, individuals must recruit at least three new NCBA members. To remain in the club, members must recruit two new members each subsequent year. The Top Hand Club recruitment year runs Oct. 1 through Sept. 30. The program is sponsored by Case IH.

Each year, three high-achieving Top Hands are recognized for their recruitment efforts, as those members who signed on the most new NCBA members. Again this year, the Top Hand Club sponsored an additional award which recognizes the Top Hand who recruited the most in dues revenue. Congratulations to the 2013 Top Hand Club top three recruiters and the top recruiter for revenue. Thank you to all of the NCBA Top Hand members; you are an elite group that makes NCBA stronger.

2013 Top Hand Club Champion and Top Recruiter for Revenue – Adam McClung
From Little Rock, Ark., Adam McClung is the 2013 Top Hand Club Champion. McClung not only recruited the most new members this year with 64 recruits, but he also won the Top Recruiter for Revenue award with a total of $8,000 in recruited dues revenue. This is McClung’s ninth year as a Top Hand Club member, and last year, he was awarded Reserve Champion Recruiter. In his nine years, McClung has recruited 214 members. McClung receives Top Hand prizes that include over $1,000 in Cabela’s gift cards; an airline ticket, lodging, and registration to the Annual Convention, boots from Roper and Stetson, and an exclusive personalized Top Hand Club Red Bluff Buckle.

2013 Top Hand Club Reserve Champion – Hugh McCampbell, DVM
With 59 recruits, the 2013 Top Hand Club Reserve Champion is Hugh McCampbell, DVM of Sweetwater, Tenn. Dr. McCampbell’s is not new to the Top Hand Club, having been named Top Hand Champion for the past four years. This year makes his fifth consecutive year as a top achiever. Dr. McCampbell receives boots from Roper and Stetson as well as paid registration and housing for the Cattle Industry Convention.

2013 Top Hand Club 3rd Place Recruiter – Kevin Kester
Kevin Kester of Parkfield, Cal. was honored as the third place recruiter for 2013. Recruiting 50 members in his first year as a Top Hand Club member, Kester earned airfare to the Cattle Industry Convention, a pair of Roper/Stetson boots, and an exclusive personalized Top Hand Club belt buckle by Red Bluff Buckles.

In addition to being the 2013 Top Hand Club sponsor, Case IH added an additional incentive to recruiters – a Scout Utility Vehicle. Those who recruited 15 or more members were entered into a drawing for this grand prize, and for every five additional recruits, they received an extra entry into the contest. This year’s winner is Kevin Kester, the 2013 3rd place recruiter. Case IH announced today that they are proud to sponsor this same promotion for the 2014 recruitment year.
