John Deere 5 Series

With four tractors ranging from 90- to 125-engine horsepower, John Deere 5R Series tractors combine maneuverability, easy-to-use transmissions, increased visibility, loader integration and operator comfort.

For maneuverability, the tractors feature a 7.4 feet wheelbase with a 60 degree steering angle to provide a turning radius of 12.1 feet.

John Deere 5R tractors can be geared with two fully electronic transmissions: CommandQuad Manual and Command8. Using a multi-range selection, the operator can toggle from B range through D range without stopping. A feature first offered on row crop tractors, AutoClutch is now available on the 5R Series, which allows stepping on the brake to automatically disengage the clutch—eliminating clutching.

Visbility from the cab has been improved with loader operation in mind. The Premium Panorama cab roof provides 80% more visibility compared to its predecessor’s upward visibility. A single-piece front windshield increases forward visibility 7%.

Standard lighting includes six halogen work lights (two front, two rear, and two side), and optional LED lights are available either factory or field installed.

The new John Deere 540R Loader is designed to be integrated on the 5 Series tractors. The loader features automatic mast latch, single-point hydraulic connection, remote implement latch and slide-slung self-leveling links. The connection process is simple—once contact is made between the loader boom and mounting frame, the latch system automatically connects. To improve loader operation, a mechanical or electrohydraulic loader joystick option is integrated into the swivel seat. Gear-shift buttons and a joystick reverser are built into the loader joystick control.
