New Partnership Focuses on Precision Farming Solutions

October 26, 2011 11:26 PM

Hemisphere GPS and CLAAS Agrosystems have announced their intent to partner and develop new intelligent machine control solutions for integration into Claas machinery. Joint product development focus by the companies will include precision guidance, advanced automated steering, application controls and remote data management.

Claas currently offers optional installation of Hemisphere GPS guidance products as part of its GPS pilot automated steering solution portfolio.  Under the new agreement, Hemisphere GPS precision farming solutions will be introduced over the next several years as a factory installation on Claas machinery. Aftermarket products also will be available throughout the Claas distribution network.
The strategic partnership will deliver the most advanced integrated precision farming tools available to farmers, according to Jens Moeller, managing director of Claas Agrosystems.
The Hemisphere GPS Eclipse GNSS with GLONASS will deliver robust centimeter-level positioning. Accurate and reliable automated steering features will be made possible through the Hemisphere GPS Celestia machine control architecture.
In addition to increasing the efficiency and ease of overall field operations, the combined efforts of the two companies will also drive improvements for demanding farm practices including high precision planting, strip tilling and bedding.
Moeller says farmers using the new systems will experience more uniform treatments, improved yields, reduced waste, and fuel conservation all with much less operator fatigue.
