For 2013, every unit of soybean seed sold by Pioneer, a DuPont business, will contain 140,000 seeds, according to Don Schafer, senior marketing manager for the company. Schafer says the uniform seed count provides a couple of benefits for farmers. "Growers will no longer have to reference variety seed size or seeds per pound; this will be just more convenient for them when they get ready to plant," he notes.
