Nominate Your Favorite Non-Profit Organization to Win $2,500

December 15, 2010 12:12 AM

Do you know of a deserving FFA chapter, school, church group, 4-H program, volunteer fire department or other non-profit organization in your county that could truly benefit from $2,500? Then nominate them to win a donation from Monsanto Fund’s America’s Farmers Grow Communities.

“We created the America’s Farmers Grow Communities program to show the Monsanto Fund’s appreciation for all the American farmer does,” said Deborah Patterson, Monsanto Fund President, in a press release. “Just one donation can touch the lives of so many people in the community. The positive impact reaches the organization, the farmer and, most importantly, the community as a whole.”
Here’s How it Works
Farmers, age 21 and over, who are currently farming a minimum of 250 acres of corn, soybeans and/or cotton, or 40 acres of open field vegetables, or at least 10 acres of tomatoes, peppers and/or cucumbers grown in protected culture, are eligible.
If you qualify, visit and fill out the short online application. In doing so, you designate the recipient or organization you feel deserves the grant. You simply have to name the group.
The application period runs Aug. 31 through Dec. 31, 2010. Winners will be selected randomly by a third party in January 2011 and announced by February 2011.

More than 1,200 counties in 38 states are eligible for the $2,500 grants. Read the official rules and find a list of eligible counties.
