NPN Partners With Chinese Engineering Firm

November 19, 2013 10:50 AM

Northern Plains Nitrogen (NPN) reports today that it has secured help in building its Grand Forks nitrogen production facility from Chinese engineers. Last night, NPN and Cheng Da, a Chinese engineering and infrastructure construction specialist, met to sign a memorandum of understanding at the state capitol signaling the two companies will work together on construction of the plant.

This comes as a similar project near Spiritwood, N.D. is tabled while CHS pencils out plans for 4 1/2 miles of road in an effort to minimize building permit fees.

It is not uncommon for fertilizer manufacturers to partner with construction companies. Last year, when Egypt's Orascom Industries broke ground on a Wever, Iowa nitrogen project, it was after the purchase of a Des Moines construction company to facilitate and speed construction.

Northern Plains Nitrogen is farmer focused and building itself from the ground, up. With construction help and engineering expertise from Cheng Da, the project expects to break ground and go fully operational by 2017. Click here for more information about Northern Plains Nitrogen.
