Palmer Drought Index: Precip Deficits Build in Eastern Corn Belt

Following is the latest Palmer Drought Index:

Juli says: Precip deficits are mounting across the Midwest despite last week's rains, as they weren't enough to recharge soil moisture. Rains aided the crop as USDA reported crop rated "excellent" is up two percentage points from last week, but this week's warmer and drier weather will increase near-term moisture needs.
