$28,000 is about 2 1/2 times what that tractor sold for new. 1973 as you know started the new generation of J.D. tractors ,with the sound guard cab, etc. which initially sold for under $14,000 in 1973; from there the prices skyrocketed for awhile. 4430 tractors which when ordered cost ~ $12000,by the time they came in the price had increased closer to $20,000.
