Range Beef Cow Symposium brings Producers to the Black Hills

Cattle producers from across the U.S. have gathered in Rapid City, S.D. for the 23rd Range Beef Cow Symposium (RBCS). This year's conference is taking place from Dec. 3-5.

Topics at the symposium include: economic outlook, current policy issues, passing the family operation onto the next generation, fetal programing, range management, and the impacts of natural disasters like the Atlas blizzard and flooding on the region.

RBCS is a joint effort between the extension and animal science departments at the University of Wyoming, South Dakota State University, Colorado State University and the University of Nebraska.

The first RBCS was hosted in 1969 in Chadron, Neb. Since the the conference has been held every other year in one of the four host states.
