Record Number of Crop Scouts on 2011 Tour

The 2011 Pro Farmer Midwest Crop Tour marks the 19th time Pro Farmer will lead groups of scouts through the several states to determine corn yields and soybean pod counts.

2011 also marks the largest number of scouts. "This is the biggest group we’ve ever had on Tour," says Chip Flory, Pro Farmer Editor and Western Tour Director for the Tour.

More than 60 scouts will be taking corn and soybean samples on the Eastern leg of the tour, which includes Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and parts of Iowa and Minnesota. An additional 40 scouts will be journeying the Western leg, which includes South Dakota, Nebraska and parts of Iowa and Minnesota.
Each day, observations and yield estimates will be released for each of the surveyed states. You can find from-the-field reports and data on throughout the Tour, which wraps up on Thursday.
