Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) this afternoon said there would be no more Senate votes today or tomorrow and that while progress is reportedly being made on lingering farm bill issues, "we're not there yet."

Reid said Sens. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) and Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) "are working very diligently to come up with an agreement on the farm bill. We will have a vote Monday evening – we have different alternatives. We hope we can have common sense prevail and come up with an agreement if for no other reason than the hard work on this bill by the managers. We have a lot of relevant amendments we have agreed to vote on, but are not there yet on the non-relevant amendments."

Comments: Those (including some senators) who predicted the Senate farm bill would be completed this week were wrong -- as most expected it was largely cheerleading at the time of the "predictions". Reid noted there has been agreement on debating "a lot" of "relevant" amendments, but no such agreement yet on the non-relevant amendments. That remains the key to the eventual fate of this controversial bill -- will Reid and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) reach an agreement on the "not-relevant" amendments?
