Republicans Introducing Their DACA Bill In Hopes for Compromise

January 16, 2018 01:09 PM

Some Democratic lawmakers indicate they will shut the government down unless something is done to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).

The executive order provides temporary legal status and work authorization to illegal immigrants who were minors when brought to the U.S. by their parents.

Republicans are writing their own DACA bill they hope will advance through Congress, and would also authorize President Trump’s plans to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

AgDay national reporter Betsy Jibben reports on the plan and how it relates to agriculture.

To Candace you say we cannot afford a 20 billion dollar fence. But apparently you forget that the Democrats promised to secure the border in exchange for Reagans giving a one time amnesty. The border was never secured and now we have to cough up far more. Each young immigrant in CA costs our state $13,000 per year just to school. When an illegal goes to the ER to have a baby here the bill is picked up by the taxpayer and runs between $40-60 thousand dollars. So it is not uncommon for illegals to rack up hundreds of thousands of dollars in costs to US citizens. That lettuce picker will likely get a full refund on their tax return as well so don't give me "they pay taxes bs" They are usually paid in cash, claim a modest income. get a taxpayer id from the IRS and then claim multiple child income credits so they pay a thousand dollars or so in tax but receive far more back in child credits. Why do you think Rubio made such a big deal about making sure the child tax credit was not only doubled but refundable. Because illegals get far more back than they actually pay in.
