1 cup cooking oil
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups diced pared apples
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 tablespoon flour
1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 cup milk

Beat oil, sugar, eggs and vanilla with electric mixer for about 3 minutes.

Sift together the 2 cups flour, salt and baking soda. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture.

Stir in apples. Combine the walnuts and 1 tablespoon flour. Add to the batter.

Pour into a greased and floured 9x13 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour.

Meanwhile, heat the butter, brown sugar and milk over medium heat, stirring constantly until it boils. Let it boil for three minutes.

Remove from heat and spread on the baked cake.
