Snapshot of Global Agriculture

March 7, 2012 06:47 AM

The following interactive graphic shows today’s top five producers of corn, soybeans, wheat and cotton, as well as USDA’s predictions of the top five exporters of these commodities in 2020.

The map also shows how much countries around the world have increased production of the four key commodities between 2002 and 2012. What a difference a decade can make! Despite the shifts, most analysts remain bullish on U.S. agriculture—while acknowledging that it’s a whole new world, with intertwined global economies.
