An Autonomous Drone for Scouting
Once installed in a field, the Scout drone from American Robotics claims to need no manual intervention to plan, fly and manage its operations. The self-charging unit, equipped with visual and multispectral cameras, is designed for daily flights to detect early plant stress. Its weatherproof drone station provides housing, charging, data processing and data transfer function in the field.

John Deere Upgrades Capabilities for Generation 4 Displays
John Deere introduces three AutoTrac applications and an in-field data sharing application for its Generation 4 displays. All applications are being sold as bundled activations for the John Deere 4600 CommandCenter and as bundled subscriptions for 4640 Universal Displays.
AutoTrac Turn Automation makes end turns smooth and consistent during tillage and planting when using straight-track guidance modes. The application provides automation across the field rather than just between headlands. When activated, the machine functions previously required at the end of the field no longer require user input.
AutoTrac Implement Guidance allows the tractor to move off the intended path or guidance line to achieve expected accuracy of the implement. The application is ideal for first-pass tillage and planting when using straight- or curve-tracking modes and when operating on hillsides. Differential-correction signals can be shared between the tractor receiver and the implement.
AutoTrac Vision Guidance now includes 7X30 large-frame, 8X30 and 8X30T, 7R and 8R/8RT tractors. AutoTrac Vision can be used in post-season applications to detect the crop row and provide input to the machine’s AutoTrac system to keep the tractor’s wheels or tracks between the rows. This application is helpful when the tractor is working in crops at least 6" tall with up to a 90% canopy.
In-Field Data Sharing makes it easier for producers to coordinate up to six machines working in the same field. Operators can share coverage, application, yield and moisture maps along with straight tracks and circle tracks. Guidance lines can be shared without moving a USB stick.

Soil Moisture Monitoring System Provides Actionable Intelligence
Rain Bird Agriculture’s ClimateMinder entry-level soil moisture monitoring system allows farmers to view their fields’ soil moisture data from an internet-enabled device. The system includes a cellular monitoring station, a pressure switch and a website to access field data. Growers can choose a 16" probe with four soil moisture measurement depths or a 32" probe with six soil moisture measurement depths. Probe selection is based on crop type.
The system measures soil moisture and records soil conditions every 15 minutes, transmitting that data every three hours. Growers are able to
view soil moisture information at ClimateMinder.com as well as receive daily reports with current field data via email each morning.
