Touch Screen from Outback

Outback Guidance adds the Outback Sts to its lineup of precision ag guidance systems. Built with the features of the company's S2 display, the Sts upgrades to a high-definition 7" touch-screen monitor that is electronically integrated with a steering guide. The system uses GPS data and specific job details to provide real-time data and precision guidance.

The Sts uses Crescent Technology by Hemisphere GPS, which provides SBAS (WAAS) performance. The unit is compatible with the eDriveTC automated steering system and AutoMate for spray boom and planter section control. Price: $2,095 or with eDriveTC, $5,895. Precision Technology Integration

Raven Industries has updates available to integrate SmartBoom and SmartRow with the Cruizer console. The controllers provide boom and planter section control. After setup, the system will limit skips and overlap in the field during spraying and planting. Contact: Raven Industries, 205 East 6th St., Sioux Falls, SD, 57106;

Expanded Planter Monitor Functions

The Ag Leader Cobalt and Insight monitors provide advanced planter control with SeedCommand. The SeedCommand system now features up to 36 sections of planter section control. Additionally, the system supports row-by-row section control on 30" rows. SeedCommand planter monitoring has an expanded list of supported seed tube
sensors for average population and seed spacing data: Dickey-john standard, Dickey-john high-rate and John Deere AccuCount.

For variable-rate planting applications, the SeedCommand system is compatible with PWM and motorized servo
hydraulic valves, Kinze hydraulic drives and Rawson AccuRate hydraulic drives.

The SeedCommand system can also be paired with up to three hydraulic motors with a single module for independent rate control, hybrid and variety logging and as-planted
mapping functions. Contact: Ag Leader Technology, P.O. Box 2348, Ames, IA 50010; (515) 232-5363;

Water Management

After a software upgrade, the John Deere GreenStar 2600 display adds the functionalities of two water management modules.

In levee and ditching operations, Surface Water Pro provides an alternative to laser systems. Using the GS2 2600 display, StarFire RTK and AutoTrac users can record elevations, record and run levee tracks and record and run ditch tracks. Survey points can be collected during any field work, and ditches can be run later using those locations.

In levee mode, the display has a dial similar to a parallel tracking lightbar—the operator turns the tractor left or right to keep consistent elevation. The levee track is recorded so AutoTrac can follow the levee line. The basic ditching mode records and runs ditch tracks and operates in conjunction with AutoTrac.

The Surface Water Pro Plus has advanced ditching functions. A second StarFire iTC is mounted to gauge blade position. A vertical lightbar on the screen shows where the blade is and the desired position. It also offers linear drain designs and best-fit drain designs to move the least amount of soil.
