Corn planting continues to progress far ahead of the five-year average. Currently, corn planting for the main corn-growing states is at 50 percentage points complete. Last year only 20 percentage points were complete at this time, while the five-year average is 22 percentage points.
 
The state leaders in corn planting progress are:
Tennessee        82
North Carolina 80
Kentucky 74
Illinois 73
Missouri 69

In cotton, planting progress is happening at a much more normal pace. Currently 16 percentage points of U.S. cotton is planting, which compares to a five-year average of 18.

Arizona  50
Louisiana 32

Rice planting is also ahead of pace. As of this week, 69 percentage points of U.S. rice is planted. The five-year average for this week is 50.

Sorghum planting is right on track. The five-year average for this week is 26 percentage points and currently U.S. sorghum planting is at 25.
