A horrific fire in a large hog barn at Holden Farms in Naples, Wisc., claimed the lives of nearly 4,000 pigs on Wednesday morning.

A portion of the barn collapsed overnight, prior to the fire starting. Fire crews from five counties, including Buffalo, Trempealeau, Eau Claire, Pepin and Dunn, battled the blaze for several hours.

Icy road conditions made it difficult to get the proper fire-fighting equipment in place. One truck spun out into a ditch on the way to the scene, reports WEAU 13 News.
