Tight Stocks Make Crop Tour Information Vital

The information coming out of the 2011 Pro Farmer Midwest Crop Tour is being closely watched, for many reasons.

"We are so tight on supplies," says Chip Flory, Pro Farmer editor and western director for the Tour. "We just don’t have any cushion on the supply side."
Flory says the bottom line is last year, with 1.7 billion bushels of corn and the corn market still reaching all-time highs. "For the 2011 marketing year, we’re going to start with less than a billion bushels of corn."
Additionally, the record prices for commodities drive attention to the daily data released during the Tour, he says.
Listen in as Flory details why the 2011 Pro Farmer Midwest Crop Tour is receiving so much attention.

Each day, observations and yield estimates will be released for each of the surveyed states. You can find from-the-field reports and data on www.agweb.com throughout the Tour, which wraps up on Thursday.
