Tire Solutions for Today’s Machinery

As farm equipment has gotten larger and heavier, tire manufacturers have responded with tire solutions.
Firestone introduces its Advanced Deflection Design (AD2) technology, which meets the North American Tire and Rim Association's Increased Flexion (IF) standard. The tires are designed for greater sidewall flexibility. Tires with AD2 technology can carry 20% heavier loads than standard radials or operators can reduce inflation pressures to minimize soil compaction. Tires with the AD2 technology have a footprint larger than that of a same-size standard radial tires to improve traction and reduce fuel consumption and minimize soil compaction. The first offering of Firestone AD2 tires are designed for row crop tractors of 300 horsepower or more, equipped with four-wheel-drive or mechanical front wheel drive.

Firestone displays the new AD2 tires, and just one booth over, a new John Deere 8R tractor is outfitted with the tires on the front and rear wheels.
Titan Tire Corporation, and its Titan and Goodyear brand tires, highlights three tire technologies for specific ag applications. The Goodyear Ultra Sprayer tries feature tread bars engineered to carry heavy loads put on them by large sprayer capacities. The Goodyear Optitrac radial tires have a 45 degree tread lug angle for self-cleaning tread action. The Titan Ultimate tire is specifically made for skid-steer loaders and to provide long-life in that application.

An eye-grabbing display at the Titan booth included the Titan 007 MFT. This tire is designed for mining applications, and measures 59” wide, 158.9.5” overall diameter, and weighs 11,000 lb.
