Today is Big Block of Cheese Day, a tradition dating back to President Andrew Jackson. He wanted a way to have the people’s questions answered and must of had a love for cheese. So, in 1837 he brought in a 1,400 lb. block of cheese and hosted an open house.
The Obama Administration continues the tradition today, hosting a virtual Big Block of Cheese Day. While it’s unclear whether there will actually be cheese served at the White House, we have our fingers crossed. What is clear is you can get answers to any questions you have on a wide variety of topics. Those answer questions include a whole host of people ranging members of the Cabinet to top White House staffers and industry experts. President Obama might even chime in on a question or two.
This year’s Big Block of Cheese Day promotions got some help from the cast of the hit TV show West Wing.
