A leading global tire supplier for agricultural machines, Trelleborg expands its footprint in the U.S. with a tire manufacturing facility in Spartanburg, S.C. This $50 million investment will be Trelleborg’s first North American manufacturing facility dedicated to the manufacture of radial tires for agricultural machinery.
Officials say maintaining a presence in North America, the largest agricultural market in the world, is central to the company's growth strategy. Trelleborg currently sells products in the U.S. and Canada, but demand is on the rise for extra-large agricultural tires in this region. The 430,000 square foot modern production facility, an addition to Trelleborg’s existing premises in Spartanburg, will have state-of-the-art equipment to ensure original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), dealers and farmers benefit from Trelleborg’s proximity and product availability.
Production of agricultural tires will begin in late 2015. By 2018, Trelleborg plans to employ more than 150 people and have additional manufacturing equipment installed to plan for continued market growth. Trelleborg Wheel Systems is part of the Trelleborg Group, which includes manufacturing and engineering for the aerospace, agricultural, light vehicles, construction, transportation equipment, offshore oil & gas industries. Currently, Trelleborg Wheel Systems is headquartered in Italy and has more 3,000 employees and eight manufacturing facilities across the world.
