Two Workers Hurt in Explosion at Minnesota Ethanol Plant

Two employees are out of the hospital after being injured in an explosion at an ethanol plant in southeastern Minnesota.

The explosion was reported early Sunday at the POET Biorefining plant near Glenville.

POET general manager Steve McNinch says two workers were taken by ambulance to an Albert Lea hospital and have since been released. Two other employees who were on duty at the time were not hurt.

The Albert Lea Tribune reports the building sustained damage, but details about what may have caused the explosion have not been released.

The Minnesota State Fire Marshal's office is investigating.
