Undercover Videos to Continue

November 13, 2015 01:14 PM

Another undercover video from animal activist group Compassion Over Killing this week. The video was taken at a Quality Pork Processors plant in Austin, Minn. The video caught two employees taking inhumane shortcuts during the slaughter process. Authorities say appropriate action to discipline the employees has already been taken and also said the company’s video monitoring system caught the incidence before the undercover effort was discovered.

Undercover videos have been top for mind for all sectors of the agriculture industry and it’s no different for dairy. Monica Massey of Dairy Farmers of America says the groups aren’t going to stop using these tactics anytime soon.

“Activist groups are going to take advantage of every opportunity they can to push their program forward,” she told “AgDay” host Clinton Griffiths at the Elite Producers Business Conference.  “Probably 80 percent of what they care about with animal welfare we care about too. 20 percent they truly have an agenda, and that's to have animal protein out of diets.”

Don’t be the next farm featured in an undercover video. Read this story about Merck’s Dairy Care Program.
