UPDATE: Details on Ohio Dairy Employee Arrest Charges

May 27, 2010 12:09 PM

Billy Jo Gregg, age 25, of Delaware County, Ohio, was arrested yesterday on 12 counts of animal cruelty. The arrest came as a result of a graphic video released Tuesday by the animal rights group, Mercy for Animals.

Each count, a second-degree misdemeanor, is punishable with a fine of up to $750 and up to 90 days in jail. More charges of other individuals could come as the Union County prosecutor reviews raw footage of the alleged abuse. Bond has been set at $100,000, and Gregg remains in jail. A court date has been set for June 10, according to the Associated Press.

The Union County Sheriff's Department is also providing security for the Conklin Dairy operation, site of the alleged abuses. The dairy has received numerous threats as a result of the video.
The Agri Broadcast Network, based in Ohio, is following the case closely. For more details, click here.
