Farmers now have until May 17 to supply paperwork for Market Facilitation Program (MFP) payments. USDA over the weekend announced a pushback of the May 1 deadline farmers originally had to submit their 2018 production evidence to FSA in order to receive MFP payments.

“Weather conditions this fall, winter and early spring have blocked many producers from completing harvest of their crops, and we want to make sure producers who want to finalize their MFP application have an opportunity,” Farm Service Agency Administrator Richard Fordyce said in a statement.

USDA this week also updated their 2018 farm income numbers which now peg 2018 farm income at $69.2 billion. MFP payments made up a large portion of the $3 billion upward adjustment.

“The update indicated that the figures for 2018 reflected the August farm income update from the Economic Research Service (ERS) and did include amounts added for the Market Facilitation Program (MFP) payments for 2018 and 2019,” says Pro Farmer’s Jim Wiesemeyer.
