Variabililty Takes Center Stage in Ohio Crops

August 17, 2015 11:02 AM

Variability appears to be the name of the game as scouts on the eastern leg of the 2015 Pro Farmer Midwest Crop Tour make their way across Ohio.

"This area looks like it's going to need some more moisture to finish out the crops," said AgWeb social media editor Ben Potter from Fayette County, Ohio. Listen to his report:

Later, near Clark County, Potter reported seeing lots of weedy fields and highly variable yields. "The driver weed is definitely waterhemp in this area," he said. "The crop scouts I'm with say the soybeans here are looking better than last year, but the corn is definitely struggling in places."

Meanwhile, scouts on Twitter reported similar results: Variability everywhere. See more reports by following #pftour15 on Twitter.
