In his Jan. 12 State of the Union address, President Barack Obama is expected to cover a variety of domestic and foreign issues. Will agriculture get any of the limelight?
U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says certain issues that affect the industry may very well get mentioned.
“I think he is going to make a strong pitch for the Trans-Pacific Partnership,” he said during a radio interview with AgriTalk’s Mike Adams. “I think he recognizes the importance it plays in maintaining the economic strength of America.

This marks the President’s seventh and final State of the Union address. He promises this address will focus on “the big things.”
South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley is set to give the Republican response following the speech. The 2016 State of the Union address starts at 9 p.m. EST.
