Weekly Sales Details

Net sales of 243,500 MT for the 2010-11 marketing year were down 45 percent from the previous week and 35 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases reported for Egypt (66,200 MT), Japan (60,100 MT, including 109,500 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 56,800 MT), Mexico (52,500 MT), Syria (51,000 MT, including 34,100 MT switched from Egypt and decreases of 1,100 MT), Costa Rica (39,700 MT, switched from unknown destinations), and Lebanon (25,700 MT, including 25,400 MT switched from Egypt), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (60,500 MT) and South Korea (11,700 MT). Net sales of 280,300 MT for delivery in 2011-12 were mainly reported for Mexico (109,600 MT), Egypt (60,000 MT), South Korea (55,000 MT), and Jamaica (22,200 MT).

Weekly Export Details

Exports of 902,500 MT were down 5 percent from the previous week and 1 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Japan (343,900 MT), Mexico (169,900 MT), South Korea (71,800 MT), Syria (42,300 MT), Canada (41,100 MT), and Egypt (40,300 MT).

Comments and Performance Indicators

Sales were below expectations. Export commitments are down 8% from to year-ago compared to down 8% from year-ago last week.

Net sales of 548,800 MT for the 2011-12 marketing year were up 46 percent from the previous week and 30 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for Japan (138,500 MT), Nigeria (63,400 MT, including 53,500 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 900 MT), Mexico (60,700 MT), South Korea (44,300 MT), Panama (40,700 MT), and Venezuela (33,300 MT). Decreases were reported for Indonesia (2,600 MT).

Exports of 646,200 MT were up 2 percent from the previous week and 20 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were mainly to Japan (206,200 MT), Indonesia (58,400 MT), Taiwan (53,600 MT), Nigeria (53,400 MT), Iraq (52,200 MT), the Philippines (49,400 MT), and Brazil (31,900 MT).

Sales were below trade expectations. Export commitments are 4% ahead of year-ago early in the marketing year, compared to 4% ahead last week.

Net sales of 224,400 MT for the 2010-11 marketing year were down 6 percent from the previous week, but up noticeably from the prior 4-week average. Increases reported for China (60,000 MT), Japan (39,900 MT, including 19,500 MT switched from unknown destinations), unknown destinations (27,500 MT), Canada (26,600 MT), and Mexico (16,100 MT), were partially offset by decreases for Indonesia (5,400 MT). Net sales of 197,100 MT for delivery in 2011-12 were mainly reported for China (129,500 MT), Mexico (29,700 MT), and Syria (27,000 MT). Decreases were reported for Indonesia (3,000 MT).

Exports of 190,700 MT were up 32 percent from the previous week and 12 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Mexico (79,000 MT), Syria (27,700 MT), Japan (24,300 MT), Indonesia (21,700 MT), and Costa Rica (13,500 MT).

Sales were below expectations. Export commitments are running 2% ahead of year-ago compared to 2% ahead last week.

Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (13,100 MT) and Venezuela (500 MT). Net sales of 16,900 MT for delivery in 2011-12 were reported for Jamaica (8,200 MT), Canada (5,700 MT), Mexico (2,500 MT), and Honduras (500 MT).

Exports of 133,000 MT were up 25 percent from the previous week and 29 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were the Philippines (47,000 MT), Canada (23,900 MT), Mexico (14,100 MT), Morocco (13,600 MT), and Israel (9,000 MT).

Sales were below expectations. Export commitments are running 18% behind year-ago compared to 18% behind last week.

Net sales of 387,200 RB for delivery in 2012-13 were reported for China (374,000 RB) and Turkey (13,200 RB).
