Weekly Sales Details

Net sales of 383,800 MT for the 2010-11 marketing year were up 58 percent from the previous week and 17 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases reported for Japan (75,100 MT, including 29,100 MT switched from unknown destination and decreases of 6,300 MT), Mexico (68,600 MT), Egypt (61,500 MT, including 60,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), China (58,600 MT, switched from unknown destinations), Venezuela (50,500 MT), and Taiwan (40,900 MT), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (10,600 MT), the French West Indies (4,800 MT), and Jamaica (3,000 MT). Net sales of 152,300 MT for delivery in 2011-12 were mainly reported for Japan (51,300 MT), unknown destinations (50,800 MT), and Mexico (43,400 MT).

Weekly Export Details

Exports of 826,200 MT were down 9 percent from the previous week and 9 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were South Korea (176,000 MT), Egypt (172,200 MT), Japan (137,000 MT), Mexico (96,400 MT), Iran (67,500 MT), and China (58,600 MT).

Comments and Performance Indicators

Sales were within expectations. Export commitments are down 8% from to year-ago compared to down 8% from year-ago last week.

Net sales of 347,100 MT for the 2011/12 marketing year were down 37 percent from the previous week and 27 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for Japan (87,100 MT), Mexico (72,300 MT), Egypt (63,000 MT, including 60,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Iraq (50,000 MT, switched from unknown destinations), Yemen (50,000 MT), and Oman (40,000 MT). Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (113,500 MT) and Peru (27,200 MT).

Exports of 469,000 MT were down 27 percent from the previous week and 19 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were mainly to Mexico (110,800 MT), Egypt (63,000 MT), China (59,200 MT), the Philippines (47,100 MT), Japan (44,900 MT), Nigeria (36,400 MT), and Guatemala (29,700 MT).
Comments and Performance Indicators
Sales were well below trade expectations. Export commitments are 9% behind of year-ago early in the marketing year, compared to 4% ahead last week.

Net sales of 107,500 MT for the 2010-11 marketing year were down 52 percent from the previous week, but up noticeably from the prior 4-week average. Increases reported for Indonesia (148,400 MT, including 65,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Mexico (47,700 MT), Japan (19,900 MT, including 18,500 MT switched from unknown destinations), Taiwan (19,600 MT), and Vietnam (7,200 MT), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (83,500 MT) and China (55,900 MT). Net sales of 550,100 MT for delivery in 2011-12 were mainly reported for China (293,000 MT), Indonesia (96,000 MT), the Netherlands (60,000 MT), and unknown destinations (60,000 MT).

Exports of 282,500 MT were up 48 percent from the previous week and 54 percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to Mexico (88,500 MT), Indonesia (85,000 MT), China (65,100 MT), Japan (22,900 MT), and Taiwan (7,400 MT).

Sales were below expectations. Export commitments are running 2% ahead of year-ago compared to 2% ahead last week.

Decreases were reported for the French West Indies (2,000 MT) and Vietnam (700 MT). Net sales of 28,700 MT for delivery in 2011-12 were reported mainly for unknown destinations (25,000 MT).

Exports of 130,600 MT were down 2 percent from the previous week, but up 28 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Mexico (30,900 MT), Venezuela (25,000 MT), Canada (14,600 MT), Honduras (14,300 MT), and Morocco (13,000 MT).

Sales were below expectations. Export commitments are running 18% behind year-ago compared to 18% behind last week.

Net Upland sales reductions of 230,300 running bales for the 2011-12 marketing year resulted as increases for Taiwan (400 RB) and Guatemala (300 RB, switched from El Salvador), were more than offset by decreases for China (146,600 RB), Pakistan (23,500 RB), Vietnam (22,900 RB), Indonesia (16,000 RB), and Turkey (8,000 RB). Net sales reductions of 387,200 RB for the 2012-13 marketing year were reported for China (374,000 RB) and Turkey (13,200 RB). Optional origin sales for the 2011-12 marketing year were reported for China (546,900 RB), Vietnam (29,000 RB), Pakistan (22,600 RB), Thailand (6,600 RB), and Indonesia (2,600 RB); and for the 2012-13 marketing year Turkey (13,200 RB).
Weekly Export Details
Exports of 300 RB were mainly to South Korea (200 RB).
