The agriculture sector of the United States wonders what President-elect Donald Trump will have in store at the beginning of his term.
Annette Sweeney and Charlie Kruse were both on Donald Trump’s agriculture advisory board during his campaign. On AgriTalk’s Farmer Forum Wednesday, Kruse predicted Trump will rescind all executive orders in place, which according to Kruse “violate the law.”
Sweeny believes he will put a farmer or rancher as the head of the EPA, saying there are “good people lined up” for the position. While she didn’t say who the possible candidates for the position are, she is certain there are interviews being conducted this week.
There are some apprehensions with President-elect Trump, one being trade. Brad Nelson of Minnesota spoke on the forum, saying the U.S. relies on exports for corn, soybeans and meat.
“For agriculture to be strong, we have to have exports,” said Nelson.
