What Happens After the Rockefeller Tree is Taken Down?

For more than 80 years, a Christmas tree has adorned Rockefeller Plaza from November until January to celebrate the holiday season.

The 2017 Norway spruce came from State College, Pennsylvania, and stands 75 feet tall with a diameter of 50 feet.

Visitors to the Big Apple can enjoy the 90-year-old tree until Jan. 7, but what happens to the tree after that?
