Why Clovis' Career Might Not Be Over

November 3, 2017 10:26 AM

President Donald Trump’s pick for USDA’s chief scientist has withdrawn his nomination for the post after being linked with a Russian probe.

In a letter to the president, Sam Clovis wrote in part, “The relentless assault on you and your team seem to be a blood sport that only increases in intensity each day.”

Clovis had a position as a co-chairman during Trump’s presidential campaign. The withdrawal comes after court papers reveal Clovis had communications with George Papadopulous who lied to the FBI about his talks with Russian officials.

Farm Journal’s Washington D.C. insider Jim Wiesemeyer believes this might not be the end of Clovis’ career.
