Former Wyoming lawmaker has died in a four-wheeler accident in Campbell County.

Sheriff Scott Matheny says 60-year-old Troy Mader was killed about 8 p.m. Thursday while herding cattle on a ranch north of Gillette.

Matheny says Mader was thrown from the vehicle after going into a ravine.

The Gillette News Record reports that Mader had served in the state Legislature after he was appointed in 2014 to fill a seat after the death of Rep. Sue Wallis. But he failed to win election that year, losing to Bill Pownall.
