Another Terrific Expo!

The traffic to the beef checkoff booth at the World Dairy Expo this year was terrific, and we were excited to share information with dairy producers about their critical role in the beef industry and the Beef Checkoff Program. As we served beef samples each day, we had the luxury of naturally drawing crowds who were simply following the aroma of a good beef steak and the sizzling sounds emanating from our miniature grill. Once there, though, we were able to talk to producers about the variety of forms -- top and bottom sirloins, ground beef, and beef summer sausage among them -- that dairy beef takes at retail and foodservice.

During the last few years, we've definitely found marked improvement in the numbers of dairy producers who understand that they are also beef producers, and this Expo once again gave us a great opportunity to bring the beef checkoff messages to dairy producers and answer their questions about it one-on-one.

Of course, we also were able to share beef nutrition, recipe and environmental messages with plenty of consumers and knocked down quite a few myths that they'd be handed elsewhere. Every person we can educate about the naturally nutrient-rich qualities of beef, as well as beef safety and the role of beef producers as everyday environmentalists, is another distribution channel for important beef messages. And we added lots of channels with producers and consumers from across the globe at the Expo in Madison this year!
