Midwest style crudités – a simple relish tray of garden fresh vegetables. Now, doing what we do in our office we love the fancy displays that the chefs and caterers we work with put out at events. Those visually attractive towers of pick sticks or individual crudité cups are amazing but, there is just something about the down home Midwest relish tray that has so much more appeal. As fancy as it gets may be celery sticks filled with peanut butter or Cheese Whiz. And, don’t forget the cleaned and trimmed green onions that are stacked standing in a Warner Brothers jelly jar, then placed as the centerpiece in the middle of the relish tray. Surely someone else out there has seen that on display at a family dinner.
While perfect just as it is, in this post we wanted to share some ideas to jazz up the relish tray this year and also to jazz up the Easter dinner table and of course…. dessert!

If you are making our very popular Grandma’s Homemade Delicate Dinner Rolls be sure to also make Honey Butter as the topper for the rolls at the Easter dinner table.
Another idea is to make Dare Devils. These deviled eggs take it up a notch in both flavor and how they look on the platter. To make these you will want a friendly relationship with your local seafood market so you can get the key ingredients. The post also includes the recipe for traditional deviled eggs.
Then be sure to consider making Easy Delmonico Potatoes. Just pick up frozen southern style hash browns and a bag of shredded potatoes from the refrigerated section at the grocery store. Mix those with a simple cream and butter combination and this potato dish will be a refreshing hit over those “cream of whatever flavor soup” party potatoes. They are the perfect side dish to Easter ham and just as easy.
For dessert consider Easy Lemon Pie, Buttermilk Pie, Pink Almond Party Cake or Mom’s Chocolate Surprise Cupcakes where the filling that is hidden inside is sure to jazz up dessert.
OK – spring is busy for all of us – in our office too. For us it seems as soon as the snow is no longer on the fly everyone is ready to get out and about which then puts us on the run.
