What Technologies Will Become Ubiquitous Next?
Nov 15, 2016
I know it’s not possible, but I really think it would be fun to time travel back about 20 years or so and show my teenage former self what a smartphone is. Would “teenage me” have lost his mind? Maybe.
Until today, I had never explored the other side of that coin, however. If “58-year-old-me” traveled back in time to talk with me today, what technology would he have that I would find equally mind-blowing?
Not all new technology is guaranteed to stick, Men’s Health magazine recently noted. Smart phones and digital cameras may have become ubiquitous in recent years, but other things like Google Glass, Laserdiscs and QR codes have landed “with a thud,” according to the magazine.
Men’s Health dusts off its crystal ball and predicts 10 “out there” technologies of today that will be commonplace 10 years from now. You can read more about each prognostication at: www.menshealth.com/guy-wisdom/tech-gadgets-you-will-use-within-10-years.
1. Virtual reality
2. Electric cars
3. Electric mobility (scooters/skateboards/etc.)
4. Battery powered or solar powered generators
5. Smart watches
6. 3-D Printing
7. Autonomous tech
8. Drone delivery
9. Augmented reality
Do you agree? Disagree? What are the emerging technologies of today that have the best chances to survive the hype and stick around?
