Powered by a 400-hp MAN engine, the Krone BiG M 420 is designed to perform in dense crops and on slopes. The model features an updated engine that uses SCR technology and is paired with an upgraded cooling system. Like its predecessors, the BiG M 420 features an advanced transmission, which controls engine speed to automatically match it to the selected groundspeed and the load on the drivetrain. The cab features slimmer structural posts, greater visibility and improved noise control. For easier operation, the joystick has been customized for the BiG M with state-of-the-art ergonomics and comprehensive multifunctionality.
The BiG M 420 features a new heavy-duty mower bed with the SafeCut auto-reset system. Like the BiG M 400, the 420 is available with choice of conditioner. The high-performance CV conditioner offers a 32' cutting width and uses freely pivoting V-type steel tines that provide intensive conditioning. Leafy crops such as alfalfa require gentle treatment, which comes from the ultra-durable nylon rollers of the high-performance CRi conditioner. The CRi version offers a 30' cutting width.
Mergers are standard on the BiG M 420. The Krone BiG Swath System transfers the crop from the conditioner to the middle of the machine without letting the material drop to the ground. The BiG Swath System operates in combination with both the CV conditioner and the CRi conditioner, and when the auger hoods are open, it spreads the crop across the full cutting width.
