Case IH has announced it will use Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) as the sole system to meet Interim Tier 4. This is the same system currently featured on the Fiat Powertrain Technology (FPT) engines powering Tier 4 interim Case IH equipment now.
SCR requires the use of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF), which is stored on the vehicle in a separate tank than the diesel fuel and need to be refilled about every other time the diesel tank is filled.
FPT has more than five years and 20 million miles in experience with SCR engines due to its introduction of the system for over the road trucks and farm equipment in Europe.
