November 20, 2017 01:18 PM

Nearly 400 years after the pilgrims made their exodus from England and made their way to North America, hoping for a better life.

Voyagers on the Mayflower faced many hardships during their months-long trek across the Atlantic Ocean.

Once they made landfall at Plymouth, Mass., the strange, unfamiliar land would not only bring opportunity and fortune, but they also faced many trials would test their strength and spirit.

While their plights might be different, like the Pilgrims, farmers and ranchers also face these kinds of hardships on a yearly basis.

Join AgDay and U.S. Farm Report as they recount the many struggles farmers endured in 2017 from hurricanes to wildfires as well as the help they received during these troubling times.

Watch Harvest of Thanks Thursday Nov. 23 on AgDay or this weekend on U.S. Farm Report. Check your local listings.

Andrew McCrea shares the story of the Mayflower from the 2016 Harvest of Thanks above.
