USDA recently opened its comment period for a proposed rule to establish the National Bioengineered Food Disclosure Standard. This law was mandated by Congress in 2016, also referred to as GMO labeling.

"This rulemaking presents several possible ways to determine what foods will be covered by the final rule and what the disclosure will include and look like," says Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue. "We are looking for public input on a number of these key decisions before a final rule is issued later this year."

The rule will require all food manufacturers and entities that label foods for retail sale to disclose information about bioengineering and bioengineered food ingredients. This will provide a national uniform standard for disclosure information about bioengineered foods.

Comment period is open for 60 days—until July 3, 2018. It will not be extended and comments can be submitted here. They can also be mailed to the Docket Clerk at 1400 Independence Ave., Room 4543-South, Washington, DC 20250 or faxed to (202) 960-0338.

Stop all the BS and just label them already. We The People have a right to know what we ingest. If you, the GMO folks, really believe that GMO foods are harmless, then you have nothing to worry about when it comes to labeling them, so just do it. Get over your greedy selves and label GMO foods. Stop all the games and nonsense.
