Senators on the Agriculture Committee are seeking clarification on the future of trade and aid from three administration officials with extensive involvement.
Chief U.S. Ag Trade Negotiator Gregg Doud, U.S. Department of Agriculture Ted McKinney and USDA Chief Economist Rob Johansson answering questions from the committee about the administration’s plans and end results on trade and payment assistance to farmers.
However, a lot of attention was focused on Johansson, who helped develop the President Trump’s tariff aid plan. Senators wanted to know answers of how he came up with the payment assistance plan for farmers.
