Merry Christmas and Happy New Year…… Kristina
In Midwestern households, family gatherings often turn potluck style with someone bringing the pies and someone else bringing the sides. Well, my cousin Jenny has perfected Grandma’s Delicate Rolls so she is the one to bring these homemade rolls to dinner. The photos of these dinner rolls were made during a multi generational girls weekend a few months ago.
These dinner rolls require practice and work but, once you have it down, you will see homemade rolls are worth it. This dinner roll recipe is so versatile my Grandma used it to make her cinnamon rolls, pecan rolls and sticky caramel rolls. So experiment with whatever you like to add to your rolls and enjoy.
And of course you can make these "old school" as the recipe outlines but you can also make them "queen of convenience" style too. When I made these for my Thanksgiving dinner, I simply gathered all ingredients, loaded them into my breadmaker putting the liquid ingredients in first and topping with the dry ingredients then set the machine to dough cycle. Once the dough was ready I formed the rolls and set them to rise as directed.
If you are in charge of bringing rolls to dinner, don't buy them from the store, just make these homemade. They are excellent. We hope you enjoy this family favorite recipe from Grandma's recipe box.
