Charlene Finck

Award-winning journalist Charlene Finck became Vice President, Editorial for Farm Journal Media in 2007. In that role, she oversees for all Farm Journal Media magazines and works closely with the editors of Farm Journal Media’s other outlets such as AgWeb, Pro Farmer, AgDay and U.S. Farm Report to provide the best integrated coverage of agriculture. In 2006, she was named Editor of Farm Journal, becoming the ninth person to lead the nation’s premiere agricultural magazine. Since joining Farm Journal in 1989, Charlene has served as machinery editor, machinery and crop production editor and managing editor. She founded the Farm Journal Test Plot program in 1992 with the help of Farm Journal Field Agronomist Ken Ferrie. The comprehensive plot program evaluates agronomic practices, machinery and agricultural products. In her present position, Charlene continues to provide strategic direction for the test plot program.  Building on the success of the test plot efforts, she and Field Agronomist Ferrie founded the Farm Journal Corn College in 2008.

Prior to joining Farm Journal, she was associate machinery editor for Successful Farming. An Agricultural Journalism graduate of the University of Missouri, she has won numerous writing awards throughout her career, including American Agricultural Editors’ Association "Writer of the Year." Her strong ties to agriculture began while working on her family’s diversified farm near Mexico, Mo. The operation included farrow-to-finish hogs, beef cattle and row-crop production of corn, soybeans, wheat and grain sorghum. Charlene and her husband, Jonathan, and their three children live on a row-crop farm.
