While the National Farm Machinery Show has been postponed until 2022, you can still catch up on the latest machinery and industry trends at Farm Journal Field Days on Feb. 9. The day kicks off with Tyne Morgan, host of “U.S. Farm Report,” and the man himself, Greg Peterson. At the early riser session, “What Every Farmer Should Know About Today’s Machinery Market,” expect:

- Details on the hottest machinery segments.
- Insights on how COVID has changed dealerships and the machinery market as a whole.
9 a.m. –
Machinery Pete talks more in-depth about “Key Drivers in Used Machinery Prices.” The information will help inform any purchasing and selling decisions in the months to come by exploring:
- What caused used equipment prices to strengthen before January’s commodity price rally.
- What you need to know about used equipment availability.
- We’re seven years ahead of the curve in how farm equipment is bought and sold—what does this mean for you?
10 a.m. –
Check in to hear from Case IH, Horsch, John Deere, Kinze and Precision Planting concerning “The Need for Speed.” The high-speed planter panel, moderated by Clinton Griffiths, “AgDay” host and Farm Journal Editor, will address what you need to know about these planters, such as:
- What are the advantages and disadvantages of high-speed planting based on research?
- What does seed placement look like at higher speeds?
- What do row cleaners, closing wheels, downforce control and down pressure settings impact the success of high-speed planting?
- Higher speed means more bounce so how do farmers avoid skips, doubles and conditions that cause late emergence?
11 a.m. –
“Hey Pete, what’s this worth?” is the most common question Machinery Pete receives. During this session, “Machinery Pete Answers Top Farmer Questions,” he’ll tackle some of the most frequent questions he fields. He’ll also give insight into how farmers can maximize the value of their equipment
Noon to 1 p.m.
