American banker and businessman David Rockefeller once said, “Success in business requires training and discipline and hard work.”
That message certainly rings true today, as volatile markets, challenging profit margins and stress abound in the business of farming. We can cope with these pressures by connecting with peers and hearing positive and proactive advice. To that end, I would like to personally invite you to attend the 2019 Top Producer Summit, which will take place Jan. 15–17, 2019.
See You In Chi-Town. For more than two decades, Top Producer has hosted the Top Producer Seminar, which brings together business-minded farmers from across the country to hear top-notch speakers and for networking opportunities. In the past decade, we’ve added the Tomorrow’s Top Producer conference for young farmers and the Executive Women in Agriculture conference for female producers. For 2019, we’re bringing these three dynamic events together for an action-packed three days.
Our three events will be held simultaneously during the week. For a few meals and speakers, as well as all the evening receptions, the three groups will join together. We hope that this new format will allow you to bring other members of your family or farm team to attend the event that best fits their interests. Then you can double or triple the amount of ideas, takeaways and new connections from just a few days.
Our home for the week will be the beautiful Hilton Chicago on Michigan Avenue. This historic hotel has housed every sitting U.S. president (minus President Donald Trump) since it opened in 1927. It has even been featured in movies and TV shows, such as “The Fugitive,” “ER,” and “Empire.”
Time To Reset. Our annual gathering in January is the perfect opportunity to refocus and reimagine your farm operation. You’ll make new friends, hear challenging and thought-provoking speakers and learn the latest insights from our sponsoring companies. I’ve already secured a fantastic list of speakers—ag economists, human resource experts, a leader at Google, policy experts, an innovative farmer from Australia and more.
In Chicago, we’ll also honor some amazing and best-in-class farmers. We at Top Producer are proud to recognize farmers for their outstanding contributions to our great industry. Learn about our awards on page 29.
In addition to these three business conferences, we’ll also be hosting a Farm Journal Legacy Project conference on Jan. 14–15, 2019. This event will dive deep into the logistics of creating a sound succession plan.
January might feel far away, but please mark your calendar to join us for this expanded and exciting event. Bring the family and team to trade ideas, connect and set your farm up for success.
